I am a typographer and am working with a monument company, assisting with a marker for my father-in-law. I’d like to improve the look by addressing scale, margins and kerning generally.
The current issue is that my cut of Modified Roman in use for mock up is, for example, too light on the unstressed ascender of a cap U, etc. at 72 pt—the small size for the dates. I’m certain this version is designed for larger letters, as a display version of a face might be. I’d like to purchase a digital version, and I see that several for sale here have a beefed up cut for reproduction @ .75″ to 1″, etc.
The monument company is using Monument Modified Roman AK Rev E, but also requesting that the lightest stroke be .08″ where the cut I am using measures approx .04″.
I have attached an image showing the suggested solution in grey vs the template I’m working from—right in magenta.

Is there a cut I could purchase that would accommodate this production spec.? Should I just set the date in Univers 57? This is to be sandblasted, btw. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
