Error when uploading images

I’m trying to upload an image but I’m getting the following message:
“There has been a critical error on this website.Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.”
Hello, sorry for the trouble. It is possible that the image you are trying to upload is too large, or is an unsupported filetype. Double-check that you have a jpg, jpeg, or png file; and potentially save it out at a slightly smaller size and try re-uploading.
