Can anyone help me identify this sans-serif monument font? I know the W is Art-line, but not sure about the rest of the surname.Monumen Sans-serif

This is a font that the MLC is currently seeking information on as well.

At my humble opinion, this is a hand-drawn “font” by someone who had some very basic knowledge in brush lettering. I doubt that there is a precise name for these letters.

Well, I’ve seen it in quite a few monument brochures/catalogs from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, as well as on headstones all over the country – so it may not have been made into metal or plastic letter sets but I’m pretty sure it was at least published in a book of memorial lettering styles at some point.

It looks very similar to a font that was a version of a hand drawn font we called Classic, which has more letter ratio/width variations than what was referred to as Commercial.

Can you send a photo? It looks like you tried but the upload failed.
