MLCKeymasterThis appears to have been hand-cut in stencil, but it is possible that it was based on an unknown typeface.
MLCKeymasterI believe this was done by hand. The Modified Roman may be the Spacerite or ScotchKut with the outline added afterward, but the surname appears to be entirely custom.
MLCKeymasterHi Darren, this is a Gerber Omega font named Jenson Medium. Though it is based on an old type alphabet, there are currently no other digital versions available.
If you would like help matching it, feel free to use the MLC Inscription Matching Service.
MLCKeymasterThis is a font named Clarendon Medium.
MLCKeymasterHi Rick, the lettering for the names and dates is the old metal Spacerite Double Outline alphabet. There are currently no digital versions of it available. The MLC is working on creating one, but the letters changed a bit depending on the size, so several fonts need to be made in order to match it at each of the sizes that were produced. The MLC still needs to collect or take rubbings of the alphabet at several sizes in order to complete the fonts.
In the meantime, if you would like help matching the inscription for this memorial, feel free to use the MLC Inscription Matching Service.
MLCKeymasterHi John, yes, this is all hand-drawn and hand-cut lettering. It is difficult to find a good digital font that matches closely because–being hand drawn–this style varies from stone to stone.
MLCKeymasterHi Eric, it seems an uninformed designer has for some reason mixed the capitals from Murray Hill and the lowercase/numbers from one of the Gerber versions of Palatino, creating disunity, as the two styles clash. It appears the Palatino was also manually slanted.
If you do not have access to Gerber, you might try a version of the font called Palatino BQ.
MLCKeymasterHello, this is Gerber Omega’s Jenson Medium font. As far as I’m aware it is the only digital version of the font available.

MLCKeymasterHi John, I believe what is on the memorial was hand-drawn, but it does appear to have been based on a font named Cloister Black. There is also another version under the name Old English Text.

MLCKeymasterHi Chris, this is a font called Vesper Libre, and it looks like it’s either the medium or bold weight: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Vesper+Libre?preview.text=ajardo
MLCKeymasterHello, this is a version of Modified Roman that has been manually stretched. It appears to be one of the Gerber Omega versions.
MLCKeymasterHello Monica, this is a block-style font that has floated around the industry a bit. The DesignMart version does match what you have in your photos. If you have reached out to them I am sure you will hear back in time. There is also a version in the Gerber software named “MONUMENT BLOCK A.K. REV.C”.
MLCKeymasterHello Monica, it is possible that this is a custom-drawn alphabet. In 1979 there were only a couple of block-style alphabets available to the industry in the form of plastic and metal letter sets, and this does not match any of them. You can also see that some of the letters vary significantly from line to line, meaning either several versions were used, or that it was all done by hand.
If you would like help matching the lettering, feel free to use the MLC Inscription Matching Service.
MLCKeymasterHi Jill, this is an old plastic letter set created by the PMD company in Canada, for their Cutrite line of stencil press alphabets. It is named Condensed Polished Edge.
There are no known digital versions of the alphabet available, but the Monument Lettering Center has plans to create one in the future. If you would like help matching it, feel free to use the MLC Inscription Matching Service.
MLCKeymasterHi Chris, this is a font named ITC Charter.
